Developer One More Level and publisher Lyrical Games announced that the upcoming first-person soulslike Valor Mortis will release on October 13, 2026. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the game will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.

The standard edition of Valor Mortis costs $39.99 across all platforms, while a Deluxe Edition is priced at $59.99. Publisher Lyrical Games explained the pricing strategy to Polygon, noting that the autumn release window is stacked and the studio wanted the game to stand out against full-price releases.

Valor Mortis will be available on subscription platforms on launch day, with different offerings for Xbox and PlayStation users:

Valor Mortis is estimated to feature a 20-hour campaign. Players control William Dowsett, a fallen soldier brought back from a battlefield grave and infected with a mysterious plague substance known as Nephtoglobin. According to Tech Times, the voice cast features Vincent Cassel as Napoleon Bonaparte, Jennifer English as resistance leader The Shrike, Adam "Nergal" Darski as Captain Raphael, and James Alexander as William Dowsett.

Combat mechanics combine a primary cutlass, a scarce-ammo flintlock pistol, and supernatural Transmutation abilities. To address visibility challenges in the first-person perspective, the game includes audio-visual parry cues featuring a visual signal and a metallic twang sound cue. Director Radosław Ratusznik compared the combat feel to a hybrid of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne, noting there are no difficulty levels at launch.

The studio previously released a Steam demo in June 2026 that received mixed reviews regarding combat readability and uneven opening difficulty. Tech Times reported that One More Level pulled the demo in September 2026 to optimize processor performance, adjust hitboxes, and refine boss difficulty curves.
