The Diplomat Season 4 Cast, Episodes, and Release Details

Netflix's hit political drama The Diplomat returned for its fourth season on Thursday, October 15, 2026, releasing all eight episodes at 12 a.m. PT, 3 a.m. ET, and 8 a.m. BST, according to What’s on Netflix. Created by Debora Cahn, Season 4 picks up immediately after the Season 3 finale, plunging viewers into the fallout of a covert operation involving President Grace Penn and Vice President Hal Wyler.

What are the major plot details driving Season 4?

The central conflict of the new season stems from Kate Wyler's discovery in the Season 3 finale that President Penn and Vice President Wyler orchestrated the retrieval of a Russian nuclear Poseidon weapon from British territorial waters without notifying the UK government, as reported by Netflix Tudum and What’s on Netflix. Creator Debora Cahn told Netflix Tudum that the fallout creates momentum for the entire season. "The idea that, in this moment, when Kate believes that she and Hal have reached a whole new understanding and come back together with trust and honesty, that’s all blown away," Cahn said. "There’s this new kind of axis of connection between Hal and Grace, [and] no one really knows quite what it means. Also, nobody quite knows if what they’ve done is anywhere near legal."
