The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Brings Rebuilt Classic to Nintendo Switch 2

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is returning as a ground-up remake built exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled to release on November 5, 2026. Nintendo Official Site, Amazon, GameStop, Nintendo Wire, Nintendo Everything, and NPR reported on the upcoming title, which reimagines the original 1998 Nintendo 64 classic with modern enhancements.

What features and upgrades are included?

The remake features overhauled visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, symphonic orchestral music, and modernized camera and movement controls, according to the Nintendo Official Site, Amazon, and NPR. Players can also utilize Nintendo Switch 2 system microphone integration to hum or play directly into the microphone to make Link's in-game ocarina respond. Additionally, a game-specific service called ZELDA NOTES on the Nintendo Switch App for smart devices allows players to track accomplishments, find locations via images, and play an ocarina. A new location dubbed the Hall of Fallen Heroes lets players view defeated monster statues to learn about them or fight rematches. Tapping existing Zelda series amiibo unlocks in-game extras, while new Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures arrive in 2027 to unlock retro graphical style masks.

What is the pricing structure?

The Nintendo Official Site and IGN listed the regular MSRP for the game at $59.99. However, Nintendo Wire reported that Amazon and Walmart offered pre-order discounts bringing baseline prices down from $69.99 to $59.99, though Amazon's page text hid its lower-than-MSRP price until cart addition. Special edition items include the Electric Ocarina of Time at $49.99, and the Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures at $24.99 each. Hardware pricing on Amazon lists the Nintendo Switch 2 system at $499.00, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller at $89.00, and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle at $549.99.

Why are products sold out globally?

Pre-orders pushed the game onto bestseller charts based on pre-orders alone, catching Nintendo by surprise as inventory sold out globally, Nintendo Everything reported. Bill van Zyll, VP and general manager for Nintendo in Latin America, addressed the high demand and sold-out products in an interview with Coelho reported by Nintendo Everything. Van Zyll stated, "Well, if we expected it, we wouldn’t be in that situation, right? At least not to this extent. I will tell you that it’s a global phenomenon. We have this issue absolutely everywhere. We apologize for that. That certainly is not the intent. We underestimated how well it would be received..." Regarding future availability, van Zyll stated, "Yes. I can’t tell you dates right now. We’re working on it. I can’t tell you quantities right now. Again, all being worked on, but that is the plan that we have right now – the special controller, the hardware, the software."
